In an Art Therapy a group of young people, a social worker and I explored the notion of layers of the heart in our group. We used the book, "In my heart", as our inspiration.
To start with we cut the paper to size and to symbolise the layers with our hearts. We all know how our feelings coexist like an onion in our hearts.
Once the paper was cut we placed the layers within a box. The box was lined with soft material which project the heart.

Each artist was asked to work on the lids of the box. They chose an affirmation that had meaning for them. The boxes were symbolises themselves with their heart inside. The words were to show that our words we hold close have a strong impact on our lives.
